At PinnacleHealth imaging, we use the most up-to-date ultrasound technology.
Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a method of obtaining images of internal organs by sending high-frequency sound waves into the body. The echoes of the reflected sound waves are recorded and displayed as real-time visual images. Our highly trained technologists are experts at analyzing and capturing high quality ultrasound images.
Ultrasound machines consist of a computer, a video display screen and a small, handheld device, called a transducer, which is used to scan the body. Ultrasound is often used for:
- Examining the heart, abdominal organs, bladder, thyroid, breast, reproductive organs, and blood vessels in the neck, arms, and legs
- Evaluating a baby from the first trimester through the end of the third trimester
- Guidance for biopsy procedures (i.e., breast, thyroid, lymph node, internal organs)
