Preparing for Your Imaging Procedure

At PinnacleHealth Imaging, our goal is to make your procedure as convenient and stress-free as possible. Our caring, compassionate staff will work closely with you and your medical team to schedule your imaging appointment and provide preparation instructions and information on what to expect during the procedure.

Scheduling Your Appointment

PinnacleHealth Imaging’s centralized scheduling specialists make it easy to set up an appointment at a time and location that is convenient for you. With 16 locations throughout central Pennsylvania—and walk-in services available for some procedures—one phone call is all it takes to find an appointment that fits your schedule.

Your physician will provide you with some information about what to expect during your imaging procedure. To schedule an imaging procedure, follow these easy steps:

  • Call (717) 230-3700 or (866) 455-9729
  • Let the scheduling specialist know what day, time and imaging facility you prefer
  • Answer a few basic questions regarding the reason for your exam
  • Provide insurance, Social Security number and referral information
  • Note: For certain imaging procedures, PinnacleHealth may contact you to preregister one business day before your appointment.

Pre-Test Instructions And Information

PinnacleHealth imaging will provide you with a description of each procedure, including what to expect during the exam and an overview of what each test is designed to find. Depending on the procedure you are having, you may also receive pretest instructions from your physician or a PinnacleHealth Imaging specialist.

When You Arrive

On the day of your scheduled procedure, you should report to the imaging facility registration area, unless you have been instructed to do otherwise by a preregistration representative. Registration is located near the lobby at each hospital based imaging facility. You will need to provide a list of any medications you are taking and your insurance card(s). You may also need to sign documents or complete a health history form. After your registration is complete, our registration specialists will direct you to your testing area.

When you arrive at the testing area or outpatient site, you will be greeted by the receptionist. Your imaging technologist will be notified of your arrival and will begin your procedure as soon as possible.

Results

After your imaging procedure is complete, you will be able to leave, unless your physician has requested otherwise. Your results will usually be available to your physician within 24 hours. He or she will contact you regarding your results, unless you have already scheduled a follow-up appointment or made other arrangements with your physician’s office.
