The Career Development Pathway (CDP) is a four-level progressive pathway established by a committee of PinnacleHealth nurses to promote career advancement for bedside registered nurses (RN).
Specifically, the CDP recognizes and rewards nurses who have expanded the depth and breadth of their clinical practice and adhere to established standards of nursing excellence.
The CDP is available to all regular full-time and part-time staff RNs who:
- Have received at least a satisfactory performance review
- Are not in the corrective action process
- Participate in direct patient care
- Have completed unit orientation
To advance on the pathway, you must submit a portfolio describing your proficiency and participate in an interview with the CDP Committee. You will receive help from a CDP mentor throughout the process.
CDP nurses embody a number of professional characteristics, including:
- Clinical judgment
- Caring practices
- Systems thinking
- Positive response to diversity
- Clinical inquiry
- Facilitator of learning
- Patient/family educator
