Children's Health Fair
Since 1979, our Auxiliary has sponsored an annual Children’s Health Fair for third graders, which became a model for auxiliaries throughout the U.S. Every year, on the first Thursday in May, approximately 1,200 third graders come together to learn about healthy lifestyles.
The Children’s Health Fair is the Auxiliary’s premier educational program, with more than 100 elementary schools in the tri-county region participating. The event provides preventative health education to students at an early age, when it can have lifelong benefits.
About The Event
During this half-day program, students rotate through ten health and safety stations spending about eight minutes at each station. Children are taught valuable age appropriate lessons based on the theme “Healthy is Happy.” Each station gives the children the chance to see, hear, participate, choose and have fun learning. The information focuses on building self-esteem, promoting positive relationships, prompting children to consider healthcare careers, and inspiring them to choose healthy lifestyles.
This event takes place with the assistance of Auxiliary volunteers, students from Central Pennsylvania College, local high schools, local community organizations, as well as PinnacleHealth staff. Over 100 volunteers help us coordinate the day.
