About Your Anesthesia

Related Items

The anesthesia during your procedure is administered by anesthesiologists, who are specially trained medical physicians, supported by nurse anesthetists and technicians.

Anesthesiologists are physicians who administer anesthetics, medicines that prevent patients from feeling pain and sensations during surgery and other medical procedures. They are also  responsible for monitoring a patient's vital functions during surgery and through the first recovery stages after an operation.

On the day of surgery, you will be seen by your anesthesiologist and asked to complete a questionnaire about your general health and previous anesthesias, which, along with your laboratory studies, will help plan your anesthetic care.

Your anesthesiologist is not an employee of PinnacleHealth. This means you will receive a separate bill for your anesthesia service that is not part of your hospital surgery charge.
