The center consists of a telephone consult center, serving 57 hospitals and their physicians throughout Central PA, and an 8-bed specialty treatment unit. The center is staffed by Board-certified Medical Toxicologists, Doctors of Pharmacology, Toxicology Fellows, residents from 9 residency programs in Pennsylvania and 2 schools of pharmacy, a Program Manager certified in poison information, and nurses with specialty training and experience in the bedside care of poisoned patients. This center is the first of its kind in the United States and the only such center in Pennsylvania.
