Purpose:
The Research Council promotes the use and integration of nursing research into clinical practice within PinnacleHealth. The Council provides a forum for clinical discussion, formation of research questions/projects, and collaboration between nursing professional staff.
Activities:
- Identify issues that currently exist in the clinical setting and propose evidence-based strategies for further investigation and or change.
- Review literature pertaining to clinical research and provide a means of dissemination to bedside clinicians.
- Review and approve proposed nursing research studies with PinnacleHealth System.
- Maintain records/documentation of all nursing research projects.
- Serve as an information support system for current and prospective nursing research studies with the system.
- Seek opportunities to participate collaboratively in medical and allied health research projects.
- Participate in the development of a budget for nursing research activities.
- Plan and implement an annual conference that provides education on topics of interest as related to evidence-based practice and nursing research.
- Facilitate collaboration with academic nursing programs and research consultants to actively shape nursing research.
- Serve as liaison to the Library to procure adequate and appropriate nursing resources.
- Member shall sit on the IRB to provide nursing involvement in the governing body responsible for the protection of human rights.
NOTE: Due to the nature of this Council, a dual appointment to this Council and another Council may be appropriate for the CNS role.
