Students pursuing a career in and living in the Greater Harrisburg area are invited to apply for a scholarship award from the PinnacleHealth Auxiliary Ernest R. McDowell Health Career Scholarship program. Any student attending, accepted or pending acceptance at any accredited institution offering a course of education in a health career field may apply. Acceptance must be verified before scholarships are awarded.
The deadline for 2012 is April 4, 2012.

In May of 1988, the first applications were evaluated. An amount of $10,000 was made available to be awarded that year and ten students received a scholarship. Currently, the PinnacleHealth Auxiliary awards over $60,000 yearly to approximately 75 deserving students.
In 1994, the Auxiliary voted to name the fund, “The Ernest R. McDowell Health Career Scholarship Fund”, in honor of Ernie McDowell. He was Director of Development and representative to the Auxiliary for many years. This scholarship recognizes his encouragement, friendship and support.
Many PinnacleHealth employees, children of PinnacleHealth employees, and PinnacleHealth Volunteers/Volunteens have benefited from these scholarships.
All recipients have been students in health career fields, which include Medical School, Pre-Med, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology and many of the technical fields.
Students are invited to reapply yearly.
All 2012 applications must be received or postmarked by April 4, 2012 to be considered by the Committee.
