While all of our partners are equally appreciated, there are some who have touched us with particularly compelling stories. We call them our Champions of Generosity. They create a culture of generosity in our community.
Children Make Inspiring Donation
When the Jede family’s beloved dog, Simon, passed away, six children put their big hearts to work and came up with a plan to honor his memory and help others at the same time. With their chef hats on, Taylor and Teagan Jede, Maria Mihan, and Paul, Christian, and Luke Gensbigler, baked what they call “Tear Biscuits for Simon” – dog biscuits that they would sell to friends and family at a local festival.
Selflessly, they decided to donate all the proceeds to the Bailey House – a “home away from home” for families from outside the Harrisburg area who have a seriously ill loved one staying at a PinnacleHealth hospital. Whether it was kneading the dough, packaging the treats, or selling the biscuits, each of the six children played a key role in running a successful fundraiser. When the last dog biscuit was sold, the children counted their earnings – $155.
These hard workers were pleased to present all $155 to the PinnacleHealth Auxiliary’s Bailey House in memory of Simon, knowing that their donation would help guests with seriously ill relatives. PinnacleHealth appreciates the generosity of these six children and the many other partners who help make the Bailey House possible.
