Residents are exposed to many facets of general orthopedics. Specialty training in sports medicine, hand surgery, spine reconstructive surgery and total joint replacement surgery are also an integral part of the training program. 

In addition, residents spend four months studying pediatric orthopedic surgery, four months orthopedic trauma and one month of foot and ankle surgery at outside affiliated institutions. Residents also receive two months elective time at an institute of their choice. 

 
Residents are exposed to outpatient orthopedics with an on-site orthopedic clinic run by the residents and supervised by the attending on-call. In addition, residents participate in the outpatient surgery center.
 
The Susquehanna Valley Surgery Center is located on the ground floor of the Bloom Diagnostic Building on the Community Campus.
