Didactic teaching programs include weekly journal clubs including Video Journal Club, Specialty Journal Club, Sawbones, and Journal Reviews, weekly orthopedic education day, and fracture conferences. Anatomic cadaver dissections are performed throughout the year which are resident run and attending-supervised based on area of expertise.
Didactic Teaching Programs
Monthly teaching programs are Orthopedic Grand Rounds twice per month, Radiology Conference, and Cancer Conference. Orthopedic Clinic is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at which over 100 patients are seen weekly. An orthopedic spine conference presented by the PA Society for Spine and PennState Hershey Medical Center Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery Departments is held every other month.
Additional conferences include:
1st year— Basic Fracture Course and one elective course
2nd year— ATLS certification, Orthopedic Pathology Course, AO-ASIF Basic Spine Course, and one elective course.
3rd year— Johns Hopkins Orthopedic Board Review Course which includes Basic Science, AO-ASIF Basic Spine Course, plus one elective course
4th year— AOAO Conference, AAOS Conference, AO-ASIF Basic Spine Course, Board Review Course of choice, plus one elective course.
