Watch the new hospital being built
Patients and the community have told us that they want PinnacleHealth’s quality and experience, as well as a Magnet® hospital, on the west shore. By building a hospital, as well as adding private rooms, family-designated waiting rooms, transport, pre-op and recovery areas, we can accommodate that request.
“This facility will meet a true need within the community and will be a full-service hospital providing excellent care,” says Mark Barabas, FACHE, senior vice president of Operations and chief operating officer at West Shore Hospital. “We anticipate that, with the surgeons and technology available, we will be able to make a range of medical procedures, including orthopedic surgery, much more convenient for West Shore residents.”
The 188,000 square-foot facility offers:
Private patient rooms
Seven state of the art operating rooms
Three heart catheterization labs
a 12-bed intensive care unit (ICU)
18 treatment rooms for Emergency Department
Multiple nurses stations on each unit, placing nurses closer to the patients within their care
More High-Quality, Accessible Care
Proximity to high-quality care is important to improving health. The addition of the West Shore Hospital makes PinnacleHealth’s high standard of care available in an acute care hospital and emergency department within 30 minutes of all patients and physicians within our Dauphin, Perry and Cumberland County service area.

The hospital completes the continuum in a comprehensive network of physicians and other providers, diagnostics and outpatient services already established on the West Shore. This comprehensive network includes the extension of its charitable outreach efforts to a larger community with free screenings and health programs that promote overall health and well-being.
As our community’s population grows and ages, the demand for services and hospital beds increases, too. The private patient rooms in the West Shore Hospital provide an additional 108 hospital beds in our community to improve access for patients everywhere.
