PinnacleHealth announced today that it is first in the state to earn STAR Program® Certification
from the Massachusetts-based Oncology Rehab Partners, leading experts in the field of survivorship care. STAR Program Certification uniquely qualifies facilities like PinnacleHealth to offer premium cancer rehabilitation and survivorship services to people who suffer from debilitating side effects caused by treatments.
Specialty caregivers from a pool of disciplines--including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, mental health professionals, and others--will work together with each patient on a personalized rehabilitation plan to increase strength and energy, alleviate pain, and improve daily function and quality of life.
“Cancer diagnosis and treatment can be traumatic. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery takes its toll on someone’s health and cause serious medical problems that interfere with daily function and well-being. Survivors commonly face symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, insomnia, memory loss, fear, anxiety and depression. Our program has been created to help survivors physically and emotionally heal from these side-effects,” states Steven Morganstein, DO, chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at PinnacleHealth.
To receive its certification, PinnacleHealth implemented the STAR Program which involves training clinicians and focusing on improving patient care outcomes. The healthcare services offered by the STAR Program are covered by most insurance providers, including Medicare, and will be offered to patients by a knowledgeable and sensitive medical staff that is specially trained to work with survivors of all forms of cancer.
PinnacleHealth is leading the way by offering excellent cancer rehabilitation services to its patients on the east and west shore by becoming STAR Program Certified. For more information regarding the STAR Program call (717) 214-STAR or visit our website www.pinnaclehealth.org/STAR
