HARRISBURG, PA— PinnacleHealth’s Harrisburg Hospital recorded its first birth for January 1, 2012 at 12:46 a.m. Sunday morning.
Robert “Bobby” Hayward Jr. was delivered by mom Sarah and dad Robert Hayward as New Year fireworks lit the Harrisburg sky outside their family-centered maternity suite. The bundle of joy, weighing 8lb 9.oz and 19.1/4 inches long, is in excellent condition.
“My experience and the staff here (at Pinnacle) have been great and I am happy that the doctor allowed me to have a procedure called ‘vaginal after C-section’ delivery.” Sarah Hayward said.
Bobby is the Harrisburg couple’s third child and first son – with two girls age three and four. PinnacleHealth’s New Year baby and mom were presented with a cake, flowers and gift basket the same certified nursing staff whose caring hands brought Bobby into the world.
PinnacleHealth delivers about 4,200 babies every year – the most by any health system in the midstate. As at 08:41am Sunday, the region’s busiest maternity unit had delivered 17 babies over a twenty-hour period – 15 boys and two girls- an unusual gender ratio according to Charge Nurse Holly Gossage, RN.
