Cord blood is the blood left in the umbilical cord after the baby is delivered and the cord is cut. It contains red and white blood cells, platelets and plasma and is high in blood-forming stem cells similar to bone marrow. Those blood-forming stem cells can be used to treat more 70 diseases and disorders, including cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma, blood disorders such as anemia, immune disorders and metabolic disorders.
