HealthGirl - low fat, low carb, or low calorie diet? 6/29/2012 3:38:02 PM
If you want to lose weight/ get fit, is it better to eat a low fat, low carb, or low calorie diet? I've heard so many different answers and I just don't know what to believe at this point!

What is the best way to lose weight and keep it off?
-- According to the National Weight Control Registry, the answers are:
-- Eat breakfast every day
-- Weigh yourself at least once a week
-- Watch less than 10 hours of TV a week
-- Exercise on average about 1 hour per day with walking being found to be the best form of activity
-- Follow a low calorie, low fat diet
Unfortunately there is no "magic bullet" for weight loss. After hundreds of thousands of years our bodies are designed to fight "starvation" and hold on to every calorie in the event starvation is around the corner. They don't realize that it isn't starvation around the corner, it's Dunkin Donuts.
We encourage you to make an appointment with a registered dietitian at PinnacleHealth. Our dietitians work one on one with you to not only personalize your meal plan, but also to provide the support and encouragement that will help you along your weight loss journey.
