Hyperbaric Medicine & Technology

Originally used to treat divers with the “bends,” today hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) plays a major role in the management of a wide range of disorders.

The combination of elevated atmospheric pressure with breathing concentrated oxygen results in significant increases in the amount of oxygen dissolved in the blood plasma, enhancing oxygen delivery to the tissues. HBO treatment has been shown to be effective in the management of chronic infections, non-healing wounds resulting from diabetes or radiation injury, carbon monoxide poisoning and other acute indications.

Where hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help:

  • Actinomycosis
  • Gas gangrene
  • Preparation and preservation of compromised skin grafts and flaps
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
  • Progressive necrotizing infections
  • Crush injuries
  • Osteoradionecrosis
  • Decompression illness
  • Acute traumatic peripheral ischemia
  • Soft tissue radionecrosis

Technology

  • The center now utilizes an electronic medical record called Wound Expert. This detailed program gives us the ability to update you with a customized report on your patient’s progress, with wound pictures included.
  • Trans-cutaneous Oxygen Monitor (TCOM) measures oxygen levels to the wound at the capillary level. This test allows the physician to assess wound healing potential and guides the appropriate ordering of Vascular Consultation. u Sensi-Lase, a non-invasive vascular testing system that performs both Skin Perfusion Pressure to assess micro-vascular system and Pulse Volume recording to assess macro-vascular flow.
  • Arobella Qoustic Wound Therapy system provides almost painless ultrasonic debridement. It also lowers the bacteria load on the wound surface, an important factor in wound healing.
  • We offer 5 hyperbaric chambers to better accommodate your patients’ busy schedules.
