Another option for these patients is to have a living kidney donor transplant. This is when someone chooses to donate one of their kidneys. This person may be a blood relative or unrelated to the recipient.

Donors are screened and tested very thoroughly before donation to ensure that removing a kidney will not affect their health in any way.
