Arthritis Related Therapy
For those who live with arthritis, joint pain is only one part of the problem; the other is the limited use of affected joints, which can actually cause additional pain and stiffness. To ensure that you receive the most comprehensive and effective care possible, we offer a full range of treatment options to reduce pain, increase mobility, and improve quality of life for our patients.
At Pinnacle Health, our highly specialized therapy care team includes licensed physical, occupational, and aquatic therapists, as well as licensed physical therapy assistants. Our team will work with you and your doctor to develop a treatment and exercise plan which best manages your arthritis.
We offer several types of arthritis related therapy, including:
- Physical Therapy – Patients are taken through guided exercises to work out and prevent joint stiffness, while at-home strategies are outlined to allow for self-treatment in between, and following the completion of, therapy sessions.
- Occupational Therapy – New approaches to regular activities, such as bathing, dressing, driving, and working, are developed to reduce aggravation of affected joints. Modified home or work areas, as well as assistive devices such as splints or braces, can also be incorporated into treatment plans to alleviate discomfort during normal activities.
- Aquatic Therapy – Physical therapy movements performed in water utilize natural buoyancy to reduce stress on affected joints and gentle resistance to improve muscle strength. Our aquatic therapy centers offer temperature controlled pools, some with adjustable floors to allow for easy entry and exit.
