Bravo PH Monitoring

The BRAVO pH Monitoring test is used to diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or to test the effectiveness of treatments administered to patients with the disorder.

To begin the procedure, which is conducted on an outpatient basis over a 24 hour period, your doctor will feed a small probe down your nose, positioning it near your lower esophagus. The probe is also connected to a monitor, which you can wear on your belt or over your shoulder.

As you go about your normal activities during the day and night, you will use the monitor to track instances of discomfort, the length of symptoms, etc. Upon returning to the endoscopy center the next day, your probe will be removed so that your physician can study the information it recorded in tandem with your record of events.
