Robotic Surgery
The surgeons at Pinnaclehealth are expert in the use of robotic technology for a wide range of surgical procedures.
PinnacleHealth facilities were the first in the northeast to offer robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery with the da Vinci® Surgical System. Within the last year alone, our physicians have performed over 1500 robotic surgeries, more than any facility in central Pennsylvania.
Our surgeons pride themselves on a tradition of excellence and are consistently ranked among the best in the field of robotic surgery. In fact, we have been ranked #1 in the state for robotic orthopedic total joint surgery, and have been recognized for outstanding robotic services in several additional areas of discipline.
The da Vinci® Surgical System
The benefits of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery are greatly enhanced through the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System. This system allows the use of micro-instruments which are connected to robotic arms, and are manipulated remotely to mimic hand movements. Motions are tracked on high-definition monitors, giving surgeons a clear, unobstructed view of each step in the process.
Because the tools used in da Vinci® robot-assisted surgeries are inserted through the tiniest of incisions, surgical procedures using the system cause minimal impact to the patient, allowing for a shorter hospital stay, quicker recovery, and return to normal activities sooner than with a traditional open surgery.
At Pinnacle Health, we are proud to offer three newly updated surgical suites which feature the da Vinci® Surgical System, two within Harrisburg Hospital and one within Community General Hospital. These surgical suites are used for a number of robotic surgical procedures, including:
To keep your family and friends informed while you are in surgery, PinnacleHealth utilizes the Pathfinder™ Patient Tracking System. By displaying coded confidential patient status information on monitors located in all guest waiting areas, Pathfinder™ keeps your loved ones continually updated on your progress throughout your time here.
