PinnacleHealth Hospitalists are:
- Located on the Community Campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which means they are constantly available for patient needs
- Able to provide expert care due to ongoing exposure to, and experience with, the health concerns of hospital patients
- Board-certified in internal medicine
They have expertise in dealing with health conditions that are generally treated in a hospital. Hospitalists don’t have a practice outside the hospital.
A hospitalist works only at the hospital. Since hospitalists are on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it may be easier to reach them when you have questions. During your stay the hospitalist and your primary care doctor are in constant communication, and they work together on your post discharge needs.
Why do I need a hospitalist?
There are several reasons why you are seen by a hospitalist. First, your primary care doctor may believe that a hospitalist’s expertise is needed for your health condition. Hospitalists also allow your primary care doctor to focus on care offered in the office setting, especially if the office is far from the hospital or if your primary care doctor has patients at many different hospitals.
